Great Health

Getting the optimum state of health is one of the things that I will attend to this year. I know this will be very hard as I have seen a lot of areas in my physical self that needs more nourishment. I have to prevent my acid reflux and mild hypertension to recur so that all the coming days will be smooth sailing. I could possibly do this by losing weight, as what my doctor have advised.

Anyway, I am already alarmed with my current body weight. Aside from the difficulty that I had on finding chic clothes that would fit me, I also felt so heavy that there were times when I catch my breath only after a short period of activity. I may resort to bodybuilding to sweat off the excess pounds but I have to consider diet too. Undergoing diet is really hard, but I have to try to go through it this year and have my system get accustomed to eating healthy and in moderation.

I am an avid desserts-muncher, and I have to cut back my intake on such sweets since they quickly build up sugar and eventually become stored fats in the body if not used up in rigorous exercises. I promise to myself to eat more fruits and vegetables so I can be sure that I will regularly dispose off wastes and toxins from my body. Likewise, they are rich in vitamins and minerals that will definitely give me the glow that I wanted. Of course, food supplements are everywhere and I plan to take grapeseed oil extracts and vitamin E supplements.

In order to reduce my body in inches, I need to do some exercise and other physical fitness activities. I saw on TV last night that it is best to jog or run for at least 45 minutes three times in a week and that is what I am going to do as soon as the series of rainfall in our area comes to a halt. I should be getting back to dancing as well, as it is my most loved physical activity in addition to my most obvious talent (as they say!). By summer vacation, I know I can very well sweat off to the highest level since it will be our agency sportsfest and time to say hello to volleyball and badminton once again.

Well, my fingers are crossed that I will be able to materialize this plan of mine. All of the above remain to be seen in the coming days. So help me God!

Getting Fit

I have decided for the nth time that I would lose weight and be fit again. I don't know if I could make it through this time but I am certainly praying I would. Last Friday marked my first day of the new diet I am doing. What prompted me to do this diet is my brother, who has lost a considerable amount of weight while undergoing the same diet. He is slimming down so much that I could say he lost about 15 lbs. So, I asked him to email me the diet plan and now I am on the fourth day of struggle!

I am glad to have undergone this diet anyway. It makes me feel light although I haven't noticed yet if extra pounds were actually shed off. I am still halfway of this 7-day plan, so I guess I just have to wait until the 7th day to see for myself if I actually lost the targeted 10 lbs. The diet consists of mainly fruits and vegetables, and I am thrilled to note that I have stayed away from rice for 4 days already (being an avid rice eater myself!). I hope I will lose about 10-15 lbs of excess weight, just as what the diet plan promised.

On top of the diet, I thought of doing regular physical exercises as well to make myself fit. I haven't been playing volleyball for over a month now due to my busy schedule but I planned to have at least 30 minutes of dance exercise daily at home just to sweat out. I already have a lot of dance songs ready, all that is lacking is my time, lol! As soon as my hectic schedule goes light, I may go over those personal training business cards I have on file and choose which one would best suit me.

I will update soon on the outcome of this endeavor. Best of luck to me!

Mixed Fruit Juice

I have been drinking a mixture of eight fruit juices every morning for five days now. The taste may be be like the ones sold on the supermarket (actually I don't understand the taste), but I know fresh fruit juice gives out the best results than the ones sold commercially.

Anyway, I have known about this juice thing because some people in the office are habitually drinking them for some time now. I was curious then and that curiosity finally gave in when I joined in. So here's what I drank today - - for Php30. It is a combination of the following fruit juices: water melon, guava, guyabano, green mango, papaya, pineapple, apple and jackfruit. ~ ~ By the way, what you see in the pic is already half empty, lol!

According to the person responsible for the onset of this habit in the office, she is grateful to the Lord for leading her to this formula. She was diagnosed with cancer on her left breast last year and after taking the juice everyday for over six months now, there was no malignancy noted on the biopsy.

For anyone amazed at her testimony, this is what she did for 21 days:

  1. Drink 2 glasses of the juice upon waking up in the morning, that is, before eating breakfast.
  2. Eat breakfast 30 minutes after the juice intake. Note that meals do not include rice, sugar, fish and meat.
  3. Take 2 glasses of juice again on snack time.
  4. Lunch (only steamed vegetables, sweet potato or the like)
  5. Another 2 glasses for afternoon snack.
  6. Dinner
The procedure itself is already hard to do, imagine not having to eat rice and meat! I will just stick on the juice drinking though.

Losing Weight Through Lap Band

Have you heard of the lap band system of losing weight? Well, it is my first time to hear of such term, thanks to the information supplied by the world wide web. It has gradually obtaining its popularity as treatment for obesity. This is really good news for obese people who are suffering a number of illnesses brought about by their physical weight condition.

I was going over some lap band testimonials from patients and I was amazed by their stories. They get to stick to their diet since their stomach get full early once they eat, because of the band fastened in their upper stomach. I saw some lap band before and after videos and was impressed.

Thankfully, I am not yet obese but as I was calculating my body mass index, it turned out that I am overweight. This is such a bad sign. Guess I have to inquire my physical weight status then with 1-800-GET-SLIM, so I could have any idea on the right thing to do.

Seems like my rigid volleyball practice is not making any good huh!

Sporting Needs

I am really excited for our upcoming sports fest. We are going to start our rigid practice this Monday, which would continuously be done until the actual event on April 28. What excites me the most is the opportunity that I have to sweat off my largely excess pounds, since we are required to jog daily for 2 hours, plus the actual games for the rest of the day.

One thing is worrying me though and that is my sports gears. Well, I have a pair of rubber shoes but they are already old - - I doubt if they could make it to the last week of April after three weeks of rigid practice. Again, this sports fest is another opportunity for me to buy a new pair, plus other sports stuff that I might need as I go along. I better ready a good budget for these, and maybe avail of some payday loans then.

And without further delay, I browsed through the Nike website and look what I found!

I really loved them and their colors matched! These two items already reached $165, so I need to raise about P7,500. Oh my! I am hoping I could get them sooner.

Losing Weight For the New Year

I was kind of disappointed with myself for not being able to resist all those delicious but fatty foods during the Holidays. What made it all worse was the fact that I was also not able to go to my dance exercise sessions anymore for a month or more.

Now I am worried how much I weighed and that is why I dreaded having to take a look at it on the scale. Well, I have to go over the process of losing weight again, since I have lost track during the long break. Guess I have to put effort again in sweating out, and maybe include the best diet pills in the process, huh!

I have come across with Proactol reviews in the past and I wonder if they are really effective. It is the first thing that came to my mind upon thinking of doubling my effort in losing weight, especially since they were made affordable with Proactol discount.

Again, wish me luck!

My Oatmeal Diet

I was planning to have a diet that will be purely oatmeal for this whole week to see if I could really lose weight. I will not be eating rice this time, and avoid the oily and fatty foods. I was not really fond of oatmeal before, but since they have produced new flavors, I find them tasty already even my kids love them especially the banana-honey flavor.

I started this activity last Monday and so far, so good - - until yesterday's lunch.

I was invited for a birthday lunch and boy, I realized how much I missed the real meal after only a day of deprivation! I ate up with all gusto ( I can't help it, the food was overflowing...), leaving me so full I could hardly move.

Anyway, all the overeating I made during lunch was also put to good use since I did not felt hungry in the evening, hence I only drank plenty of water. Haha, my bad!

Weight Loss Update

It has been awhile since I posted about my journey to weight loss. It's either because I am pre-occupied with other things to write about, or there are just no major results in this endeavor of mine. As of yesterday, still only 2 kilos was lost (after 6 months!) and that is indeed very unnoticeable.

I sometimes think if there is something wrong with my body. Well, I go to dance exercise twice a week (although not religiously), but again, maybe the weight doesn't want to let go because I am more of a rice person, and rice is so carbs. If I think of doing double time and more diet, it makes me give up all these weight loss thingy.

My deal with hubby is only two months away and still there's no great transformation taking place. But there is hope for everything and I am going to learn more how to lose this excess weight. There are diet reviews available on the net to guide me to the right direction to weight loss.

Lots of weight loss products have emerged on the market today and they have their own strengths and weaknesses. Thousands of health and beauty products and services awaits us and we have the right to know how well and satisfying they are before we grab them. Even exercises and treatments are becoming numerous, that I sometimes get confused which is the best one. All that confusion will be no longer felt as I go over the reviews and updated information at Sensational dot com, a truly helpful guide to healthier living.

Belly Dancing

What can I say? But this is my latest fascination!

I have already written about this few months ago HERE but that fancy has now become a fascination. I was so challenged upon watching the dance instructor in our dance exercise sessions doing her belly dance moves and I really was impressed how it made her body look great and slim, despite the fact that she is already a mommy too.

I have studied the dance eventually and I like it. Well, I haven't mastered the basics yet and I am still struggling to learn everything, but hey, I also found some great results too. Now I felt my waistline inching off a few. And just a mere 7 minute belly dance song could already loosen out the sweat within me, not only on my belly but even on my arms and legs. I usually drink Fit n Right before I do the dance exercise and it feels great doing the whole routine.

Here's a video that I play again and again over at youtube, while learning the basics of belly dancing. Enjoy!

Frustrated Loser

Why is losing weight so difficult? I am almost on the verge of frustration. It has been 5 months since I made a deal with my husband and only 3 kilos has been shed off from my body. I really envy those people who don't have to exert an effort in keeping their bodies fit and slim.

I went to dance exercise sessions twice a week, so that helped me sweat out and take off the extra fats. However, food is so hard to avoid! I am so much of a rice eater, so that would be really hard to lose weight. I hope I could finally muster my motivation and devote more effort in losing those above-extra pounds.

But how? Sigh!

July 16, 2008

Knowing L-Carnitine

Being desperately wanting to lose weight is not a joke. Aside from the twice a week schedule that I have with dance-exercise to sweat out, I have to go on a diet and take food supplements for weight loss.

The motivational force within me have not seem to be working with full gusto. Since I decided to lose weight three months ago, I only shed off only a few pounds - 8 pounds to be exact (more! more!more!). I haven't really taken the diet too seriously, especially during parties and primetime TV watching (it's really nice to munch something while watching), so I guess my progress is not very quick.

So, what would be my alternative in order to hasten this weight loss endeavor of mine? I have to continue my dance routines and thrive to sweat out more than my calorie intake. Fine. I have to pursue my diet (strict mode), meaning no fats, no salt and less sugar. And take fiber and L-Carnitine or levocarnitine, that is why I am stocking some beverages with the content as well as the food supplement.

What is L-Carnitine? It is a naturally occurring amino acid that helps in the metabolism of fats. It transfers long-chain fatty acids, like the triglycerides, into the mitochondria, which is the cell's energy haven. From there, the fats are oxidized to form into energy. L-Carnitine can also be found on red meat (beef), dairy products and avocado.

Wish me luck as I include L-Carnitine in my diet. I hope I would see great results soon.

Go Belly Dancing

The dance studio I frequently went to has a new dance instructor (DI). I was already used to one of their instructor who usually dances hip hop and other new hot tunes nowadays, but got another favorite in the person of this new DI since she specializes in belly dancing.

I really love dancing and I wouldn't trade this skill to anybody else (sorry...). I have always been an avid viewer of dance music videos, especially those of Madonna, Janet Jackson, Shakira and Justin Timberlake. Every time I get a glimpse of their videos, I really get hooked at once.

But one thing is for sure, I find difficulty in belly dancing and watching that new DI made her belly moves challenged me to the extreme. I have never belly danced before, and while I was doing the DI's moves, my belly really ached which somehow tells me that I need more practice and improvement. Oh my. I just hope that this effort of mine in learning belly dancing would pay off and give me the slimmer figure I have been wishing for my entire life.

You should try it yourself. After my first try, my torso was really sweaty and really gave me a refreshing feeling.

Confused Shopper

Shopping with budget constraints is really hard and right now, I am very much confused what to buy. As much as I wanted to have both items at once, I am still financially unable to acquire them and so, I have to decide and choose which is which.

Well, the choices I have to make - - Rubber shoes or Earrings. It has been a long time since I wanted to have them but haven't got the time and resources to obtain. With costs getting higher and higher, the chances of having those are getting slimmer and slimmer (poor me!). And now that I got a few bucks to spend, I am left to make the decision which item to buy.

Dear hubby advised for the jewelry since the said item is more valuable compared to the shoes. But I also longed for a new rubber shoes now that I am almost becoming a regular guest on the only dance studio here in our place. Presently, I dance twice a week in order to shed those super-extra pounds off my body and what great accessory to go with this endeavor - - rubber shoes.

Hope I could make up my mind soon and will not regret whatever the decision may be.

Lose Weight Fast.

For a month now, I have always wanted to lose weight. I told myself to trim those excess fats off, as part of our deal with hubby.

As much as I wanted to see the loss of excess fats fast, it is really a hard endeavor for me. Food is just so difficult to resist, especially for me who is so much a lover of sweets! Oh well, guess I just have to strive harder in order to realize my goal, with its finish line on December 31, 2008.

They say losing weight is not about being picky with the food you eat, but about having a new lifestyle. Whatever that new way of life to take, a person wanting of fast weight loss should undergo it. There are a lot of diet plans being formulated, including the liquid diet which I have also used.

There is this one site that would definitely cater to people seeking for a healthier and sexier figure, called the New Lifestyle Diet. The have diet programs for both men and women and have various diet products from cereals to bars.

Benefits of Aerobic Exercise

Aerobic exercise is an activity that is widely performed by individuals hoping to lose weight. Others do it for their own health reasons.

Aerobics is an extended activity that makes one breathe long and hard and boosts up the heart rate, which eventually improves endurance. It makes the heart stronger and more efficient. Its activities includes, but not limited to: brisk walking, jogging, aerobic dancing, and swimming. Aerobic exercises also uses up the excess calories stored in the body that would turn out to be fats in the long run if not utilized, thereby making it an effective activity for weight control. Aerobics also helps counteract stress, and as a result, anxieties are eased away as the tensed muscles are relaxed.

Likewise, there is a research that has studied the link between aerobic exercise and mental performance of the brain among adults. Researchers have found out that when healthy adults undergo improvement on their fitness, there are improvement in their mental abilities as well, like in their memory or attention. A series of studies and investigations have been conducted and came to the conclusion that the improvements in mental abilities brought about by aerobic activities are explained by the progress in cerebral blood flow, leading to increased brain metabolism. The increase in metabolism stimulates the production of neurotransmitters and formation of new synapses. Neurotransmitters are chemicals that carry messages between nerve cells, and synapses are the connections through which this communication takes place.

Reap the benefits now and have a healthy heart, mind and body. Even cats do, haha!

Just How Important is Sleep?

Now that I am off to the deal with hubby about losing weight (to which my doctor also advised since my cholesterol and sugar are on the rise), I am more than excited to see the results. It may be very premature right now to witness the changes, but I am really doing my best to make a difference.

I got an email featuring the importance of sleep in losing weight.

Long ago, it has dawned upon me that sleeping causes weight gain. I was so fond of sleeping way back in college that it almost made me flunk, and what I really remembered back then was that I have gained so much weight. Maybe I have disregarded the fact that I also ate lots during those times. Now that I do not sleep that much (I usually sleep at 11pm on the average...and in between sleep I still have to wake up and feed my two boys), I still have gained weight. Now I see that there was no direct relationship between sleep and weight and so I have already dismissed my previous concept on sleep.

Just how important is sleep? According to experts, lack of sleep affects the level of certain hormones in the body, especially those responsible for the metabolic processes. Sleep loss makes a person hungry and would affect the body's metabolism. At the same time, lack of sleep or proper rest causes fatigue and 'run down' so the person won't have the enthusiasm to undergo the activities relative to weight loss, especially those physical activities that are rigid and requires sweating it out. Moreover, when working out, muscles are teared up but with proper sleep, those muscles are re-built.

And so, to have a good and deep sleep we all deserve, here are some of the things to be done in order to achieve it.

- Eat a healthy diet.
- Have a regular exercise routine.
- Undergo relaxing pre-bedtime rituals like warm baths and listening to soothing music
- Create a peaceful sleep environment.

Dance for Health

To materialize my deal with hubby regarding losing weight, I attended a dance exercise class few hours ago. Since dancing is my most favorite skill (my friends call me dan.ce.rous), I think I have to take this seriously and do it regularly.

And so I went to JAMV Dance Studio, the most sought after studio here in our place. They have a number of regular members who were paying on a monthly basis. Some are just walk-in participants, paying 50 pesos per hour. An officemate of mine referred this studio to me about three years ago but I only got the time to go and check it out six months ago. Now, I am also tagging along some other officemates whenever I go to JAMV. The more, the merrier.

I really enjoyed dancing. I don't know why but whenever I hear dance tunes, my body begins to move. Well, not publicly but there is something inside me that shouts dance...dance...dance. Dancing with others is enjoyable. I had fun looking at my own reflection since the studio is surrounded by mirrors. After the dance and all those sweat unleashing, it feels so refreshing and light. It's like playing badminton and volleyball, haha.

Try for yourself. This is good, even if losing weight is not in your agenda.

Be Fit n Right

My husband and I made a deal last night. It is not something big though but it's about our bodies. Well, we agreed to get that fit n right body and our target date is on the 31st of December, 2008. He will be going to transform his skinny body into a muscular and hunky physique, while I will be kissing my overweight body goodbye and work on to be slim.

Sounds petty but I am really worried that I might not make it on the target date. I don't know why but I should say that getting slim is so very difficult to do. Thinking about it already made my mind go around, left me feeling like I lost about 20 lbs...(well, feeling lang).

What should I do in order to achieve my desired result? Currently, I am participating in a dance exercise class, although not regularly but only one hour per week. I guess I have to increase the hours then, but the problem is if I have the time. Then, I guess I also have to cut down my rice intake, but then again, I am a rice-person. I am so fond of pastries, and I hate to bid adieu to these sumptuous creations.

We still have not thought of the reward yet once we get the accomplishment. But it should better be irresistible considering that this is a hard challenge.

It shall be very complex for me as I undergo this deal. I hope I could make it through and I know I am doing this for my own good. Wish me luck guys.
