Scottie Pippen

While everyone was so engrossed with the royal airness of Michael Jordan at the height of the Chicago Bull's fame in the NBA arena, my eyes were all set for Scottie Pippen. He may not be the best player the Bulls team has ever had, but I was a big fan of his for reasons that I don't even know.

My fancy for the NBA materialized when I was in college. I don't even remember how it all started (the fancy , I mean) but I was hooked into it that I took note of every game schedule the Bulls had for every entire season and was willing to skip classes just to watch those games. I collected magazines, trading cards, posters and other NBA items especially those with Pippen on them.

As I have said, Pippen's playing prowess was not at all at par with Jordan's but that didn't matter to me. But I just hope you will agree with me when I say that he has contributed a handful too for the success of the team. As Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf puts it, "Not only is Scottie Pippen one of the greatest players to ever wear a Bulls uniform, but he's among the best players in history of the league to play the game. He had a tremendous impact in bringing six world championships to Chicago and there is no better way to pay tribute to him than with a permanent statue that honors his inspirational career."

I was so overjoyed upon learning this great news. Scottie Pippen is getting a well-deserved bronze statue from the Chicago Bulls, which will be permanently displayed at the United Center at some point towards the end of the 2010-2011 season. A major wow!

Pacman Won!

The whole of Philippines stood still as every Filipino watched the fight of Manny Pacquiao against Oscar Dela Hoya, which has wrapped up just very recently. And I can very seem to tell that all are rejoicing for another victory coming from the number one pound for pound king of boxing.

We were pretty much excited to watch this fight, so excited that hubby cooked lunch early so that we could have it before the main event takes place. True enough, right after lunch, everyone in the house were already glued on the TV sets and there was no wonder what was going on their heads.

My heart goes out to Oscar Dela Hoya. Hubby said he was such an exceptional boxer, but he wondered how come he is not himself today...hmmm. Oh well, we liked him too because of his good-natured personality. And one more thing, I almost couldn't stand the sight of his beautiful face being punched and turning blue.

We salute Manny for another job well done! He is indeed a great boxer! Congratulations and thank you for marking another glory for the Philippines.

Office Lunch Break

Our audited agency's office has three floors and we are located at the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor consists of the conference hall, a mini gym, our office (auditor's office) and records room. A big space is still available and so they placed a billiard table just outside our office.

Notice that the picture seemed so quiet, well it is! This photo is taken at 10 o'clock in the morning, 2 hours before the lunch break. But this will not be the scenario as soon as the clock strikes 12, instead, the agency's employees (usually men) would grab those pool cues on the side, gather up in the table above and play the great game of billiards. Playing billiards during lunch break has become a routine among the boys in the office. They played the game with fun, using cards as score (pardon me for not elaborating further, because I myself don't have any idea yet). Well, I noticed that their pool cues were quite old already. Wonder if they would think of replacing those old pool cues with new ones. They could get a Pool Cue of any variant at Pooldawg.com at a great value.

For pool enthusiasts, a wide array of choices could be found at pooldawg and if only I could expertly play this fun game, I would have one for myself too. Here's my pick:

US Beats China in Men's Basketball

Last night at 10pm (Philippine time), the Olympics has showcased the most awaited event of the season - - men's basketball between the United States of America and China (at homecourt). It was the highlight of the day indeed, with so much spectators from the different parts of the globe in eager to witness the versatility and skills of the US players led by Kobe Bryant as well as that of Yao Ming, China's basketball pride

I, for one, also stayed up late and waited for the game to begin. Too bad my husband has dozed off to sleep already since he has to wake up as early as 1am for his travel to his work station. But watching the game on the television alone did not lessen the excitement and thrill that I felt.

Well, the US won with the final score of 101, against China's 70. It was a huge variance but China has put up a great fight anyway. The crowd has been very energetic as well and the US players have so much felt them too. The final scores were broken down as follows:

Dwyane Wade led the US in scoring with 19 points, while Yao Ming expectedly contributed to China's score the most with 13 points.

Ohh..can't wait for the other games. Wonder if Argentina could keep up their championship. It is really a never-ending excitement!

Congratulations Celtics!

My hubby has always been a basketball fanatic. He used to play way back in high school and even in college. He is an avid viewer of basketball games both the local and the NBA.

He loves Kobe Bryant. I used to like the sport long ago too, in my college days. I was way too obsessed with Scottie Pippen, which until now I have no idea as to why. Chicago Bulls has been my favorite team and I even collected NBA cards, magazines and books about the team. I had to skip classes then, just to watch their games live on the television, and I made my own tally of their winnings and losses. Well, that was part of my memorable past now. Back to hubby, his current fave is the Los Angeles Lakers, to which Bryant is the key player.

Excitement filled him upon knowing that the Lakers are off to the finals. The more it thrilled him to know that it's Lakers vs. Celtics who are facing off for the title, which reminded him of the good old days on L. Bird's and K. Jabbar's consistent rivalry.

Sadly enough, the Lakers lost in the series and granted the championship title to the Boston Celtics. There was a bet going around their office where the Celtics came out as the underdog. He really wanted to place his bets for the Lakers. It's fortunate that he didn't because big bucks would have been lost...tsk...tsk...tsk. Anyway, the Celtics also deserved to win. They have a great line-up of players, who are all big contributors to their success.

Congratulations!
