Microwaving Her Baby

This 28 year old lady made no reaction whatsoever when the jury declared her guilty of burning her month-old baby girl in the microwave oven sometime in 2005. Her name is China Arnold, and she could be sentenced to death since the jurors refused the defense on her attorney's claims that someone else was responsible. Her fate would be decided come Tuesday as the jury would meet once again to hear evidences on the death-penalty phase of the case.

China was having arguments with her boyfriend back then and placed baby Paris on the microwave to burn because she was afraid the boyfriend might learn that the baby wasn't his.

It really makes me sick to my stomach learning such deed and for me it is unforgivable. Isn't it? It's not the baby's fault, why does she be the one to suffer?

Tired of Annoying Callers?

I have my fair share of experiences on annoying callers. Most of these callers are from various credit card companies making follow up calls on payments, introducing new offers and promos, etc. While they may be tolerable at first, but their persistent calls could really get into you, right?

Well, these callers were not just from credit card companies. There are those who are from various telemarketing businesses, while others are just plain nosy people who are looking for phone pals. There are telemarketers who insensitively won't get tired of calling you again and again making annoying promotions of their products.

Well, for us to be aware of annoying telemarketers or callers, there's a website called AnnoyingCallers.com which discloses the unending list of phone numbers these annoying people called from. They have a great stock of information about those particular numbers which were used by the annoying callers and at the same time, one can also share his or her experiences and submit the phone numbers to the site. They have a search box for you to inquire about whether the phone number that has been bugging you is in their list, and get further details of such number.

How To Wake Up Early

Waking up early is one hard task for me because I usually sleep late at night, not to mention the waking intervals that I make just to feed my little boys their milk. But I have to get up as early as 5:30 am during weekdays because my daughter would be late for school if I don't wake her up before 5:45am.

Anyways, I was amused with some alarm clocks I found which are somehow insistent in waking one up during the mornings. Take for instance the Tyrant Alarm Clock - - it coordinates with your cellphone and the contact lists. Every time the alarm rings for three minutes and you still haven't woken up, it will dial a random number from your cellphone. Well, in that case, you may never wake up through the alarm clock but you would certainly be awaken by the call of your friends or whoever asking why you call at such an early time. Then there's the Alarm Puzzle Clock - - which shoots four puzzle pieces right to you and the only way to shut it off is to put back the pieces together. Well, that would be an imperfect way to start a day, picking up the pieces and putting them together. In that case, you might need a strong cup of coffee afterwards (haha!).

Another clock that would get you rolling for the day is the Shape Up Alarm Clock - - and it would let you make thirty repetitions to shut it off because it has no snooze. Oh my, what a strenuous way to start the day indeed!, although on second thought, it gives a great motivation for weight watchers like me.

Wanna wake up with the wrong foot? These clocks surely would wake you up in no time. And to do that, better have a good night sleep beforehand.

Fave Hollywood Lines

I admit I am very fond of Hollywood movies, and I take good pleasure watching them. Especially the romantic comedy films, they simply make me feel good. One movie that I consider an all-time favorite is "A Walk To Remember", a touching love story that melted my heart. "Jamie saved my life. She taught me everything. About life, hope and the long journey ahead. I'll always miss her. But our love is like the wind. I can't see it, but I can feel it.", how could I ever forget these lines from Shane West? It definitely did made me teary-eyed.

But one famous line which I think has clicked through the crowd is "After all... I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." Sounds familiar?, it surely is! This is spoken by Julia Roberts in the movie Notting Hill. The words are just simple but had a great effect.

It is not imperative that creating an effect to the opposite sex is only through good looks. Spoken words also make an impression and somewhat affects the personality of a person. Romantic and amazing lines could also make someone turn on.

Well, at the Ultimate Flirting Championship organized by Extreme Style by VO5, using just the right words would definitely take you to achieving Victory Hair. These famous Hollywood lines would work, coupled with the application of those great flirting tips and tricks they offered while playing the game.

So, for an enjoyable and romantic day, why not take part on the Ultimate Flirting Championship to start off your week and see for yourself what those Hollywood lines are made of.

This I Promise You

Being sentimental or over-acting may be my newest realization at the moment but I really just couldn't help being a little bit emotional upon listening to my all-time favorite song by NSync, entitled This I Promise You.

Well, I have a number of all-time favorite songs and while I was listening to them last night on the media player at bedtime, the song I mentioned above made the most impact out of me. And to my wonder, tears had actually fallen while the song played.

Here's a video featuring the voices behind this song. They are just so great!

And the lyrics...

This I Promise You

Ohh ohh...

When the visions around you,
Bring tears to your eyes
And all that surround you,
Are secrets and lies
I'll be your strength,
I'll give you hope
Keeping your faith when it's gone
The one you should call,
Who's standing here all alone...

And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you
This I promise you

I've loved you forever,
In lifetimes before
And I promise you never...
Will you hurt anymore
I give you my word
I give you my heart (give you my heart)
This is a battle we've won
And with this vow,
Forever has now begun...

Just close your eyes (close your eyes)
Each loving day (each loving day)
I know this feeling won't go away (no...)
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you.
This I promise you.

Over and over I fall (over and over I fall)
When I hear you call
Without you in my life baby
I just wouldn't be living at all...

And I will take (I will take you in my arms)
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong (right where you belong)
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you baby

Just close your eyes
Each loving day (each loving day)
I know this feeling won't go away (no...)
Every word I say is true
This I promise you

Every word I say is true
This I promise you
Ooh, I promise you...

This song will always make me stay in love and this is heartily dedicated to the man I married.

Cellphone-charging Tie

Technology has gone a long way already and now have made an entry into the clothing and fashion industry. A team of researchers at the North Carolina State University have designed a way to incorporate technology and fashion by using digital textile printing in printing fabric that matches the pattern of the solar cells.

Using the "liquid stitch" method, the solar cells are then attached to the tie and could be greatly helpful in charging your cellphone. Coupled with a pouch, then you're off to extended talk time while on the go.

Read more about this brilliant idea at The Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Development at the North Carolina State University.

A Holiday!

The weather is fine and the day started out great. Today is a non-working holiday and so I got a day more for rest. On top of that, hubby also got an extended weekend, and that means more bonding time (haha!).

This day is proclaimed a non-working holiday because it is the observance of Ninoy Aquino's death, which happened on a August 21. Since the said date is a Thursday, then GMA moved it to a Monday for the purpose of a long weekend.

Have a great Monday to everybody and enjoy the rest of the week!

Story About Babies

Had a good laugh while reading a funny story sent through email. So, to lighten up your mood too, let me share it here and hope you'll enjoy.

Making A Baby.

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a
surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father
was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well,
I'm off now. The man should be here soon."

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer
happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. "Good morning,
Ma'am", he said, "I've come to..."

"Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been
expecting you."

"Have you really?" said the photographer. "Well, that's good. Did
you know babies are my specialty?"

"Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and
have a seat".

After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?"

"Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on
the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living
room floor
is fun. You can really spread out there."

"Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry
and me!"

"Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if
we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven
angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results."

"My, that's a lot!", gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to
be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed
with that."

"Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of
his baby pictures. "This was done on the top of a bus," he said.

"Oh, my word!" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

"And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider
their mother was so difficult to work with."

"She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get
the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep
to get a good look"

"Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes", the photographer replied. "And for more than three hours,
too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could
hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my
shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I
just had to pack it all in."

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. "Do you mean they actually chewed on
your, uh...equipment? "

"It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my
tripod and we can get to work right away.."

"Tripod?"

"Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my equipment on. It's
much too big to be held in the hand very long."

Mrs. Smith fainted.

What do you think is the moral lesson of this story? Hmmm...

My answer: I always loved to cook, but i guess cooking really hates me. I am not blessed with this skill so that left me to stay out of the kitchen. Washing clothes could be tolerable, but my back would start to ache after 5 minutes or so, so better drop it! Thank goodness, I have a nanny to do those things.

US Beats China in Men's Basketball

Last night at 10pm (Philippine time), the Olympics has showcased the most awaited event of the season - - men's basketball between the United States of America and China (at homecourt). It was the highlight of the day indeed, with so much spectators from the different parts of the globe in eager to witness the versatility and skills of the US players led by Kobe Bryant as well as that of Yao Ming, China's basketball pride

I, for one, also stayed up late and waited for the game to begin. Too bad my husband has dozed off to sleep already since he has to wake up as early as 1am for his travel to his work station. But watching the game on the television alone did not lessen the excitement and thrill that I felt.

Well, the US won with the final score of 101, against China's 70. It was a huge variance but China has put up a great fight anyway. The crowd has been very energetic as well and the US players have so much felt them too. The final scores were broken down as follows:

Dwyane Wade led the US in scoring with 19 points, while Yao Ming expectedly contributed to China's score the most with 13 points.

Ohh..can't wait for the other games. Wonder if Argentina could keep up their championship. It is really a never-ending excitement!

Ahhhh...Love Life!

Someone in the person of Vhiel tagged me with a very interesting Q&A portion about lovelife and dating. I wonder what's with these kind of tags but it really appeals to me so much, and I had a great time trying to figure out my answers and jot them down here.

1. When was your first kiss and where?

Sometime in the year 1998, my bf (and hubby now!) stole a kiss after he sent me home.

2. When was your first real relationship and how long did it last?

I don't know if I have 'not' real relationships before but I just consider them crushes and flings. My first real relationship is the one with my hubby, and I am in high hopes that this would last until lifetime.

3. What age are you allowed to date?

Actually I was not imposed any rule on dating way back, as far as I can recall. But I started dating when I was in college, around 17 I think.

4. What's the craziest thing you did (for love) when you were a teenager?

Hmmm...my teenage years were fun-filled and crazy indeed, but anything for love? Hmmm...again.

5. How long was your longest relationship and what's the secret?

This question is a piece of cake. It's definitely with my hubby... we were together for 10 years (7 years in marriage and 3 years as bf/gf). There's no secret about the longevity, and the process of acquiring a lasting relationship is still ongoing. But one thing is for sure, open communication, understanding and God-centeredness are truly great ingredients.

6. How long did you date before you decided to settle down?

Please refer to my answer on question # 5 (haha!).

7. How did you know he was the ONE?

I just felt it. Period.

8. Now, at what age will you allow your kid(s) to date?

Depends on their level of thinking...but ideally I would still prefer if they finish their studies first.

9. When it comes to your kids dating, will you be a cool parent or a strict parent?

I'm definitely cool. . . but I would also not fail to give constant guidance and advices. My hubby would be strict I think (haha!).

10. What piece of advice can you give to your child when they start dating?

Never give their all until nothing's left of them. And think about their future because their parents couldn't be there with them all the time.

Great tag, isn't it? And if you enjoyed reading this, come now and do this tag too! Have a great weekend!

Me and My Kids

This is my first time to ever join a contest in the blogosphere, and it is such an overwhelming feeling to be a part of it. This week's theme at the PMC weekly fest is mother and child, and without further delay, I would like to share my picture with my kids. Here it is . . .

This picture is taken last May 2008 (when I was still 4 kilos heavier than now) at a hotel room in Cagayan de Oro City. It was a 3 day vacation at the place and while we were having some rest from the travel, my hubby took this picture. It was quite wacky though, because the three are always playing around therefore the shot is somewhat stolen (well, as far as my second kid is concerned - the one on my right).

The weekly fest's sponsors for this week are Mapile and Bloggista, a very big thanks to them!

Toasters and Ovens Guide

Toasters or oven toasters may be overlooked as a cooking tool in our kitchen but they are definitely equally essential and important with the others. And for those food lovers who are on the look-out of good cooking, oven toasters can be very useful.

My husband loves to cook. His favorite spot in the house besides the bedroom is the kitchen. The oven toaster has been a great aide for him in his cooking. But since the toaster is already 7 years old (it was a wedding gift to us), we are eyeing for a new one. We would like for a new 6 slice toaster (haha!).

Check out this website (toasterovensguide.com) that offers varied reviews of different toasters and oven toasters. They offer advices and tips on buying new ones, with price ranges to consider. Every information you need, they got it!

Our 7th Wedding Anniversary!

Finally, the day has come... August 4th. It has been seven years since my hubby and I were married this very same day. How time flies so fast, indeed!

And to my husband, HAPPY 7TH ANNIVERSARY!!! Mwah!

Stylish New Frames

Our eyes are indeed important organs that we have. Because of the privilege of sight that they gave, we should take good care of them to continuously enjoy the great things through sight. And to do that, eyeglasses or contact lenses are on the rescue for our clearer vision.

Contact lenses may be a little costly than eyeglasses and people on the budget can now get incredible stylish new frames from Zenni Optical. Problems about getting quality prescription glasses will be eased away because Zenni Optical $8 Rx eyeglasses are now available and can be purchased online. They had a wide array of glasses to choose from, starting from as low as $8 - - definitely a practical catch!

Zenni Optical has definitely become an icon on optical solutions and check them out on the news, yes, Zenni Optical was on FOX News!

Sad Excitement

It's the weekend once again. And I am very excited.

Why?

Because after the weekend, comes Monday - - the 4th of August. It's going to be my 7th wedding anniversary with my husband.

But I am sad at the same time.

Why again?

We won't be together on that day, that is why. It is a working day and so he can't come home. He can't take a leave of absence either. Sigh!

Yum..Yum..Yummiest Cakes

I am reading the yesterday's paper just now and look what I found - - the yummiest commercially baked cakes available in the country today! Being the pastry and cake lover that I am, I immediately browsed their great list and was awed by the sight of the pictures. My mouth became watery and suddenly I wished it is already lunch break (sigh!).

So, let me share to you my dilemma. If you are a cake devotee like me, then here they are and feast your eyes upon them (sorry for the poor color, just scanned it).

Chocolate Chessecake - Php1,015/whole; Php135/slice

Cashew Toffee - Php675 (nine-inch cake)

Mucha Leche - Php475/whole

NY Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake - Php1,400/whole; Php308/slice

Torta delos Reyes - Php690/whole; Php85/slice

Take your time and breath in between.

Attention Country Music Lovers!
